Why I Love Michigan.

If you're a Michigan native like me, you understand how beautiful of a state we're from. Many outsiders think Michigan is just filled with farms, small towns, and run down buildings in Detroit. I'm here to set the record straight.

For me, Michigan has everything- lakes, hiking trails, cities, farms, sports, big towns, small towns, and some pretty darn hard working people. Yes, we have a number tiny towns, and yes, Detroit is struggling. But through it all, Michigan continues to be beautiful. Now that I live in Boston, I have stopped taking my homestate for granted. Every time I am back visiting, I make sure to take in every place I go.

This weekend, I am flying back to Michigan to help my parents open our lakehouse at Klinger Lake near White Pigeon. Where exactly is White Pigeon? Well, its a little town in southwest Michigan with a couple stop lights and alot of John Deere tractors. I've been to San Diego, Oregon, Florida, New York City, Cancun, and St. Lucia... and our lakehouse on Klinger Lake is still my favorite place on earth.

In the midst of wedding planning, I plan to take some time to relax, get focused, and just enjoy my homestate. I feel it's important to take a step back and to get your thoughts together so your planning process is as stress-free as possible.

Where is your favorite place in Michigan?

Lindsey,

I can totally relate your post. My family has a place just south of Saugatuck on Lake Michigan that is so special to me. It's been a part of my childhood, building sandcastles on the beach with my sisters, of my adolescence, gossiping with girlfriends about boys while laying out in the sun, and now of my adulthood, watching perfect sunsets in the arms of my fiance.

I actually went up there last weekend to collect pebbles from the lakeshore that our florist is going to incorporate in the table centerpieces for the wedding. Although many of the guests won't be aware of their meaning, I'll know everything they represent, making it that much more special.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend and are able to soak in as much as possible while you're home!
